Q: Why are Boy Toy dolls more expensive than other dolls on the market?

A: Boy Toy Dolls are labor intensive, require expensive materials, and are being hand made by the artist who designed them. They will only be offered in limited quantity and every intention is to keep production of these dolls on a small scale.

Q: What made you decide to make a completely new doll? Are you still focusing creative efforts on RealDoll?

A: After spending many years on Realdoll, and establishing a very competant staff at Abyss, I felt the urge to work on something 'new', something different. By designing a doll outside of the 'Real' realm, and doing so from the ground up, I was able to think outside of the box on many levels. I was able to consider different materials that would not be available to me with the established Realdoll platform. Many of my ideas required starting over in a sense, thinking ahead from the very beginning stages of the sculpture itself. To retrofit an established mold would be almost impossible. I was also creatively excited to try something new, and what began as a research and development project became an entirely new doll. The new silicone must be cast in an extremely sterile environment, free of the presense of other silicones and various other materials. I put together a small studio physically removed from realdoll production and created Boy Toy. Boy Toy and Realdoll are two different products, and have a lot of differences. I also feel that the two products are for two different types of customers. One is a product designed to be REAL, and the other is designed to be UNREAL. Boy Toy is more of an ART piece, hand made by myself from the casting to the make up to the finishing details. It is my hope that these dolls will be appreciated as collectables. Many of the design innovations that have been possible with Boy Toy will allow me to re address Realdoll on many levels. I remain dedicated to the ongoing improvement of both RealDoll and Boy Toy Dolls. Phoenix Studios is a sister company of Abyss Creations that will focus on developing silicone doll technology in both types of dolls.

Q: Do you offer a warranty?

A: Boy Toy dolls have no warranty, but we will take full responsibility for any defects in manufacturing found on the doll when it is received, which is the same policy as our sister company Real Doll.

Q: What type of maintenance is recommended for these dolls?

A: Maintaining a Boy Toy doll is relatively easy: removable orifices should be cleaned after every use and replaced in the doll for storage. The doll should be hung on the provided wall mount for storage. The body of the doll only needs cleaning with a damp sponge as needed, and powdered with talc or baby powder as needed to eliminate skin tackiness. We recommend sponging and powdering your doll once a month.

Q: Are there any chemicals or conditions that can damage my doll?

A: The silicone that the doll is made of is very durable; Most solvents such as alcohol or acetone will not effect the skin, and can be used safely for a thorough cleaning. The polymer inserts, however, should be cleaned only with water and mild detergent; Solvents can damage the material that is used for these parts. Furthermore, these inserts are sensitive to heat and should never be exposed to temperatures over 200 degrees. Doll wigs can be washed with shampoo.
